It seems to be forever since I have been here, I think the last time was for a 6 week challenge. Well guess what, I flopped! Nothing, no changes…….but to lose the weight you have to be ready and ready I now am. I am not entering into any weight loss competitions, I don’t care if it takes me 6 weeks, 12 weeks or the rest of the year for that matter! All that matters is that I am doing it for my health and fitness.

I am now ready to get in great shape and as of today I am starting on The Diet Solution. I am excited to see just how well this program that is raved about actually works. So this will be my online journal of my weight loss journey. As of yet I am undecided whether I will just follow my own exercise program or whether I will also put Turbulence Training to the test ( I had better work that out pretty soon huh!?!) Read more

My Weight Loss Challenge

motivation?

It has been a long time since I have posted and so much has been going on. As a personal trainer I am always telling my clients to put themselves first for at least 30 minutes of the day, take time out of their busy daily schedule and get their exercise done. That is why I feel like a hypocrite…..why you ask?

I have spent so much time lately building my own personal training business and especially promoting my outdoor group personal training sessions that I have not taken time out for myself and as a result I have gained weight. I feel sluggish and fat! But the time has come to get back in control and practice what I preach and with the added incentive of a 6 week challenge (and a possible $5000 prize money) I am going to shed the unwanted weight that has crept on.

This will be my ongoing journey where I will be open and honest, after all even though I am a personal trainer I am still human and weight loss is not an easy journey for anybody! Read more

What Is Juice Fasting?

Juice fasting is a detox diet where you only consume fresh fruit and vegetable juices. First thing in the morning you drink a glass of water with lemon juice, then fruit and vegetable juices throughout the day at 3 - 4 hourly intervals. No other foods or beverages are permitted. Juice fasting can be continued for up to 40 days, then gradually you return to a normal healthy diet.

Juice Pros

  • Good source of vitamin C - for healthy teeth & gums , to boost the immune system and to help the body absorb iron and zinc.
  • Nutrients are absorbed quickly into the bloodstream because juice requires minimal digestion.
  • Fruit sugars (fructose) are an immediate source of energy.
  • Low GI and low fat.  Read more

Too many of our teenagers are drastically over weight. The shocking fact is that 14% of our teenagers suffer from obesity. That number has doubled since the 1970s. The illnesses that can affect teenage obesity are vast and include high blood pressure, diabetes and, heart disease. Why has the teenager obesity rate doubled?

Many experts blame the obesity effect on the technology of video games, video arcades and, too many television channels to choose from. Sadly, it’s not as often anymore that we see a bunch of children playing kick-ball in the school or park. Nor do we see pick-up stickball or softball games. Can we blame this all on technology? Some, but perhaps not. Read more

People are confused more than ever about how to burn fat. They are confused about the best way to go about achieving the body they want. They are confused about what works and what doesn’t, and the reasons why. There are countless individuals slaving away in gyms and fitness centers around the country right now.

They are working tirelessly, almost every day, on the treadmill, stair-climber, elliptical, etc. to burn those calories and fat. They also might be lifting weights several times a week for hours at a time to build some strength and muscle. They might even join a few aerobics or spinning classes too. Read more

I was at a big event last week and was reminded how important it is to have strategies for this season of high-calorie parties and busy schedules. But I get ticked off by the tired old suggestions you find on the Internet or in magazines like Woman’s World.

Often the suggestions are lack any substance, because the writers don’t want to imply you actually have to make a sacrifice to succeed. They make fat loss sound easy, as if all you had to do was park at the far end of the parking lot and you’d burn all the calories from 5 shortbread cookies.

Well it doesn’t work that way…So here are my politically incorrect, unique Turbulence Training strategies to help you keep off the holiday pounds. Read more

You have decided that the time has come to start losing some weight. But what is the best way to shed those unwanted pounds? Unfortunately there are so many weight loss programs and diet tips that it can all seem a little overwhelming, and some what confusing. In this article I will unveil 5 common diet myths.

1. When dining out, your healthiest choice is to order a salad.

Unfortunately salads are not always the healthiest choice on the menu when you are trying to lose weight. Often your salad will be served up with all of the little extras such as cheese, bacon, ham, croutons, mayonnaise and creamy salad dressings. Your supposedly healthy salad could possibly contain more calories than a fast food restaurant hamburger. These little “extras” are the perpetrators that will turn your healthy salad choice into a calorie laden nightmare. Read more
